All the material available on this site is first hand information. I
have visited the places described here at least once myself and the
pictures are my own. The information is subjective and hopefully can
help the prospective visitors in their choice of places to visit.
I hope
too, that it will entertain those who cannot enjoy the outdoors with a few modest pictures.
The purpose of this site is to give a flavor of where tramping
(walking, hiking or trekking) can take you in our beautiful islands.
This is not a guide, most of bookshops have a large
selection of them.

engineer born in France, travelled the world for a few years before
becoming a citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand. Discovered tramping fifteen years ago and spend most of the three summer months since then,
discovering the backcountry and the mountains. Carries crampons and ice
axe occasionally, but not a climber. Likes unspoiled landscapes, flora,
bird life and photography.
